Welcome to the Gourmet Project!

The purpose of this blog is to document my attempt to prepare every one of the 1000 + recipes in The Gourmet Cookbook. This kind of thing has been done before, but never by me. This project came about when I flipped through The Book and thought, it’s too bad I’m too lazy to make all of these. In the summer of 2006 I went to war with my laziness. My arsenal consists of a small apartment kitchen in Montreal and a grad student’s budget. My adversary is a book filled with 14 hour preparation times, hard to find ingredients, a penchant for butter, and the ability to foie gras me into the poor house.
